Also, the "legal" pages are suspicious. In the Terms of Service, it doesn't says what laws from where they applied, there's no postal address or location mentioned. In the Cookie Policy and the Privacy Policy pages there's no contact e-mail, which I believe is mandatory for every company to have. Finally, in the Refund Policy they mention "MetaLance" which is (suposedly) another freelancing marketplace but its website has the same layout and logo. They even post an e-mail address for support, that is clearly fake: [email protected]
So, we should add MetaLance as part of this scam web.

The email contained her message in which she asked me to contact her through her email to get more information. At that point, I fell for it, as they sent me the contract, which looked very credible, also because I did some research on the rates that can be paid in the UK for a translation of a movie script, and it showed that you could pay up to 0.30 pounds, and what she was offering me was 0.24 pounds per word.
After having sent the first part of the translation, the next day I received her reply, in which she told me that the payment for the work I had done was already in progress but with some delays, so she recommended I go to a live chat on the website http:// Cibfinances.com within the next 6 hours if the money did not appear in my account; that I could start without registering. He also told me to proceed with the second part of the translation as the payment for this part was already ready and there would be no delays. Obviously I am not going to continue with the translation.
Surprisingly, he also sent me a supposed payment receipt from Commercial International Bank, with all my banking details for the payment. I wanted to send or copy and paste a screenshot I took of the real bank's logo and the logo that appears on the payment receipt, but I couldn't do it or didn't know how to on this PROZ.COM.
From what I understand, the person identified in the email I received as K.R. is subcontracting freelance translators to do the translation. This person is probably posing as a translator, and she is receiving the payments. As I've already mentioned, I did some research on the rates that can be paid for a translation of a movie script, and it is said that it can be as high as 0.30 pounds per word. For this translation, she was offering £0.24 per word. Therefore, the rate they are offering to pay, although it seems fanciful because it is so high, is within the range of what you can expect to pay for the translation of a 145-page, 22,125-word document.
I am sharing my experience so that it may be useful to other translators who might fall into this trap. ▲ Collapse

The Noble Path law firm had a website, crafted freelancers too, and my desperate-to-get-a-job brain just jumped in. I'm really sorry about this experience.
Though, I understand from the above answers (including my own experience with them) that they provide old documents (from 2002 for example) or already translated content. So what benefit do they take just to get a translation that already exists?
Usually, from what I heard, this type of scams are typically to ask you money at some point (either a "deposit" to get the money, or send money back from a supposed overdue transfer that actually never happened or things like that).
So any idea on what is their "business model" here?

Did you ever get any money from them? I went through the same process as you. I didn't even think to check if it was legit, but then again I don't know how to do that. O just checked the bank account online and there it was

I responded to this e-mail and, indeed, I got the exact same text as everyone else in here got, the 145-page movie script paid at 0.24 euros per word.
So, keep an eye for "Skill Cluster Portal" and Ev**yn Le***ni. It also had this information added as a signature:

I couldnt believe that it was true, but anyway I continued and accept the assignment and 6 hours later i received a contract from a law firm for the translation job. I googled the names of that people, and didnt find any consistent information, until I found this posts about that, and when I read the information here, it was exact the same I received in my inbox. Immediatly replied those emails saying scammer to everybody, and fortunatly I did not provide my bank information...So, be careful with this people.

I have also been contacted by these people this week in the same way and thanks to those who shared their experience the situation did not escalate.
The best way to combat this type of fraud is to keep us informed.

I was contacted by Crafted freelancers too, and, unhappilly, I did accept the project, though it seem strange to me that they didn't provide me with payment terms from especially considering the appealing rate they were offering (0.12 GBP per word.) We agreed to deliver the translation in 3 parts (30, 40 and 30 per cent) on Oct 14th, 24th and 31st

I started doing the translation, a text from FAO, from Portuguese to Spanish. I delivered the first part of the text on the 14th, I gave them my bank account number and SWIFT code and, apparently, they made the payment (they even sent me a PDF) from a so called 'Commercial International Bank', apparently some sort of confirmation payment, and a very long number which looks like a transaction number. After 2 days of not seeing the payment in my bank, I conatcted the 'project manager', who even provided me with the name of the new bank because, "apparently" they had changed their name, and in the transition, the transaction may have gotten delayed.
I kept calling my bank while completing the 2nd part, thinking that everything was alright. This so called manager even gave an email to contact their bank, but guess what? No answer whatsoever. I finally contacted the foreign currency area of my bank, where they told me there was still no transaciton reflected in my account and that I needed to request from the issuing bank the payment information in order to trace back the transaction, but I had already written to them having no answer; which is why I searched in Google the way to trace a SWIFT payment, and then it was when I realized the scam, because the pages with what is needed to trace a transfer, it turn out that a UETR code and a reference number (which are not at all similar to what they gave me in the PDF I received) are needed to trace the transaction.
In view that I hadn't had a reply from the 'new' bank, I sent an email to the manager, but as you may already guess, there is no answer, now that they have 70% of the text with them.
It was only then when I decided to inquire about crafted freelancers, I visited their page and even signed up, but as anyone would have expected, it is just a page they created but there is no marketplace where some projects are offered and then you can contact the contracting party, nor anything, and then I also found this forum in the results.
How could I be so stupid? It's something I can't tell, but at least I know now that I will see a single penny from this and this is a lesson that I have to learn for the future. Of course I won't deliver the remaining 30% (and I don't even think they will ask for it,) and I have already blocked their email address.
Be careful with these guys from crafted freelancers, they have a very sophisticated and elaborated stage for the frame, with even websites that look real, but there is no one supporting anything. ▲ Collapse
