The source text is: "Conduct criminal or civil background checks on employees with access to personal information."

This is from a Human Resources website (http://www.bizresourcecenter.com/cyber.html) that provides checklists to help manage cyber risk exposures. I know the terminology for "criminal background check" in Spanish, but am struggling to find anything close to "civil background check," which seems to be composed of an overview of civil records, which provide information such as bankruptcies, tax liens, registration of motor vehicle boats, and FAA Certifications or aircrafts.

"Registro civil" would be inappropriate because it refers to someone's civil status (marriages/divorces/name changes) and "revisión de antedecendes judiciales" does not quite fit, because it applies more to the police/criminal records.
