Another possible and, I think, idiomatic way of reflecting the original metaphor. I do think this is the sense, as opposed to "raw" experience. The image is premastication, sometimes called "kiss feeding", whereby the mother chews the food and then passes it from her mouth to that of her infant child:

So literally "premasticated experience", which is in fact a possibility here, but I think it might sound more natural to refer to a variant of premastication found in some animals, involving passing regurgitated and therefore predigested food.

Arguably this metaphor should be retained because of its connection with the idea of consumption.
