español term

líder de opinión

español al inglés Mercadeo Psicología Pharmaceutical sales
This is from a list of information items that the sales rep should compile. If possible, I'd like to have a hyphenated expression like "decision-maker" / "power-broker" / "trend-setter"...

Context:

Data importante sobre el médico como otros trabajos, puestos que ocupa, si es **líder de opinión** o líder prescriptor, si pertenece a sociedades o asociaciones

opinion leader

A term commonly encountered in marketing.
Marketing Dictionary: opinion leader

Individual whose ideas and behavior serve as a model to others. Opinion leaders communicate messages to a primary group, influencing the attitudes and behavior change of their followers. Therefore, in certain marketing instances, it may be advantageous to direct the communications to the opinion leader alone to speed the acceptance of an advertising message. Because of the important role opinion leaders play in influencing markets, advertisers have traditionally used them to give testimonials.

If the term refers to someone whose influence is great enough to form or shape public opinion, this might be an especially good option.

As for "opinion leader," I think it's fine; it's widely used and translates directly from "líder de opinión." That said, to the extent that (for whatever reason) you might be looking for an alternative, "opinion-setter" might be a really good choice, given the already common use of "trend-setter."
