Considering the previous words "el modo en que de a poco el Sr. Juan",... changes de actual question... therefore the choices made.

was accepted into the family/family circle/inner family

Remy's answer is just fine, this is just another possible idea for you......
Peer comment(s):

agree David Hollywood : this is spot on agree with "was accepted into"

agree Bubo Coroman (X) : better if you say "Sr. Juan got himself accepted into the family circle" to show that the man himself was the instigator of the process

agree Erin DeBell : Definite possibility. DEFINITELY need more context to know. Argh!

wormed his way into the family circle

Hi Brenda.
Your text in Spanish mentions "testigos relatan" . De ahí yo le tomo un sentido negativo a este asunto..y de ahí, mi respuesta. Algo más de contexto tuyo nos ayudaría.
Suerte:-)
Peer comment(s):

agree David Hollywood : and not disagreeing with you at all Terry given the context could well be "wormed" but need a lot more context to be sure :)

Thanks a lot, David! Yes indeed, Brenda needs to give us far more context, as I asked. Saludos:-))
agree Patricia Rosas : ditto, here, Terry!

agree Erin DeBell : Thanks, Terry! It was an accidental change, but I never was too fond of my username (too ambiguous), so maybe I'll keep it this way!

Definitely very grateful, Erin, thanks:-) Love the name-change:-)) . For context..see: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/2766515 Thanks again:-))
agree Nelida Kreer : Context....context......the eternal cry of translators in the desert......but "worm" is a possibility indeed. Unless. (jaja)

Thank you kindly, Anne:-)) But far more context is needed. I've never been able to understand why we [willing helpers] have to virtually coerce askers [the needed] to give us clear context and give them clear answers! One of life's mysteries, I guess:-))

entering/becoming/ became a family membership

I would opt for how he "became a family membership". That is following the context given.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Erin DeBell : "Membership" just doesn't work in this construction. Perhaps "gained membership" or "became a family member" would be better. :) Un saludo.

Thanks Kirendall! I see your point, and yes, definitely a "family member" or a "member of the family" sounds much better than my option related to sports! Thank you!

gradually became a part of the family circle

To maybe reflect the "fue ingresando" part, I felt that a "gradually" was necessary, it was not an action or a result obtained in one step, but was the outcome of a gradual process, or scheme.
