The mess I am making:
The Mediterranean ¨is not just geography¨ or ¨only history¨ and the cultures and civilizations that have been born and later developed here ¨are not just national cultures¨ and the ¨Renaissance has not overcome the Middle Ages¨ everywhere.
As far as context and these phrases being in quotes--there is not much context--this is the first page. But, in general it is a text about migration and Mediterranean food and markets.

Repost with my correction above regarding the last quote mark:
FINAL: The Meditarranean is \"not only geography\", and it is \"not only history\": The cultures and civilizations which arose and developed there are \"not only national cultures\" and they are \"not only the Renaissance managed to go beyond the Middle Ages.\"
I point out, again, that the last phrase is a tiny bit awkward as it is in the original and that in quoting this does often occur.
The Mediterranean is neither "just geography" nor "just history"
A shot from which you may like to take all or part.
I find it odd that in Spanish, lograra is in the future and everywhere else it is in the past !!!

I suggest:
"... civilizations that have been born and later developed here ARE NEITHER JUST NATIONAL CULTURES NOR WHERE THE RENAISSANCE HAS OVERCOME THE MIDDLE AGES"
Meaning(IMHO) that the Mediterranean is more than just the cradle of these civilizations or the place where Renaissance started.

I would translate it this way, since I think you're changing the sense of the phrase in the last part of your English translation.
Another option:
The Mediterranean is not mere geography as it is not mere history...
