Not a conference -- or is it? The question poster previously rejected my translation of "encuentro" as "conference" on the grounds that she was leaning toward translating "jornada(s)" as "conference" instead. According to Gran Diccionario Oxford, "jornadas" in the plural can in fact mean "conference," as well as "symposium," "workshop," or "course."

Not a 'conference' I've seen this term for more than 30 years, and I've never seen it translated as 'conference'. It has an air of informality, like a workshop or a powwow. I would go with 'workshop'. If it's a single say, it's usually translated as 'event', as Caroline indicated.

Also, 'event' can sometimes work, although I think it would sound awkward in this case ('Geriatric Care Event').
