No me suena natural mi traducción. Me queda muy pegado al texto y no me gusta.

his own efforts in securing these social reforms
Comment:
"Efforts" ("actions" is another possibility here) sounds more natural to me than either "intervention" or "involvement." "Securing" seems a more faithful reflection of "obtención" than "pursuit," and "social reforms" has a more idiomatic ring than "social goals." (A "conquista" would ipso facto constitute a "reform.")
Suerte.

Although I don't think that "social conquests" works, Veronica makes a good point regarding "conquista" reflecting "struggle."
So here's an alternative answer that incorporates that element:
his own efforts in the battle to secure these social reforms

his personal role in the achievement of these social conquests
I prefer to keep the strong connotation of "conquista" because it denotes a struggle, thus the direct translation "conquest".
The "intervención" denotes an active participation, thus the translation "role".
"obtención (de la conquista)" also has a very strong connotation which denotes winning, therefore the translation "achievement".
Hope it helps!
