presentar candidatura

español al inglés Negocios/Finanzas Publicidad / Relaciones públicas Conference organisation
A company that orgainises conferences and other similar events

Las gestiones que tienen por objetivo definir los parámetros básicos de congreso y presentar su candidatura también pueden ser desarrolladas por XXX

later

confeccionar el material gráfico y audiovisual para la presentación de su candidatura

The brochure is very general, it seems to be aimed at any organisation/company who might want to put on a conference, not specifically say for putting your city forward for the Olympics or whatever, hence my question. Ideally we need something more general than "Present one's candidacy"

Discussion

William Pairman (asker) Apr 10, 2008:
Henry the context isn't really cut off, it just says "si así lo prefiere" after the company's name. The second example is a bullet point, in lower case. Thus do I postulate :o)
Henry Hinds Apr 10, 2008:
Rosina, "postulate himself as candidate" difícilmente lo diría un nativo del inglés.
Rosina Peixoto Apr 10, 2008:
Cuando alguien se postula a candidato , yo diría: postulate himself as candidate pero acá es diferente.

The CONTEXT is cut off, but this looks much betterr to me.

to present oneself for consideration // to be considered

This seems to be the best fit, given that the context seems to be that of a process of preliminary consideration for later presenting a conference.

What about this famous expression "to run for President" - for example.

presentar su candidatura - to define you (i.e. the customer)

"define" is one of the buzz words of media reporting on the U.S. Presidential elections. At present Senator McCain, having got through the nomination stage, is busy "defining" himself (putting his image over to the public).

Here are examples of "define" used in corporate contexts:

The Platt Collections endeavors to create and deliver distinctive and uniquely styled product that continues to ***define the company*** as a design leader in the furniture and accessory industry.

A company’s personality can live and die by the written word. Others will get to know and “hear” you through your documents - press releases, backgrounders, and supporting materials – it all becomes part of the record.

DCPR works with clients to ***define the company “voice”***, creating messaging that supports a big picture, connect-the-dots story.
