Any suggestion for translation agency name? The agency will be in Cancun, Mexico. Most of my domain best ideas are already registered.

simple Dec 23, 2020

Hi,

I would suggest to choose a simple name, one that can be easily remembered. Something like Veronica Language Services 'VLS'

Best of luck!

A suggestion Dec 23, 2020

The list of agency names on the Blue Board is like a Babel of shrill voices all trying to grab one's attention. Oddly enough though, I can't find an "ABC Translations". Grab it before someone else does!

Your name will never change Dec 23, 2020

You may move so using the town name could be problematic. Your name is the one constant. And it's your own skills and experience that you're selling, so it's 100% appropriate.

Which is a paradise not that paradise is the name of the location
@Tom, there are 2 or 3 ABC translations in the BB

Exactly, although it would be an advantage to have the name of the destination for SEO searches, in case of moving, it would be the problem.

What happens if you branch out? Dec 23, 2020

If in future you decide to branch out into something different, you may find that a business with something explicitly related to translation in its name is inconvenient or confusing for clients. The same goes for geographical area.

Suppose you call it "Cancun Translation Services" but then you move to Mexico City and take up a lucrative sideline in providing interpreting services...? A more general name might be more flexible.

Cancun paradise? Dec 23, 2020

I didn't like the look of Cancun at all when I drove through between its high-rises. But Tulum was a lovely, hippy-like place with a slow pace of life. Certainly a lovely part of the world.
Maybe Mexico or Mexican would work for SEO. Or Yucatan.

Lexico Dec 23, 2020

Something with Lexico?

I wouldn’t worry about the geography. There are plenty of global businesses that have a name tied to a specific place or country. That’s a bridge you can cross if you ever get to it. If you ever got that big you could rebrand quite easily.

I think we need to know more. For instance, if you are targeting Mexican customers you would probably want a Mexican/Spanish name that references the world market; if you are targeting foreign customers, you

I think we need to know more. For instance, if you are targeting Mexican customers you would probably want a Mexican/Spanish name that references the world market; if you are targeting foreign customers, you probably want something English that references something Mexican. What field? What languages? It’s hard to know where to start otherwise...

But you can never go too far wrong with your name or initials plus translation or language services.

Verónica and Verónica Dec 23, 2020

Or Verónica y Verónica. Or VerónicaVerónica. Nobody has to know there isn't another Verónica. Or you hire a Verónica if you have to.

Well, there's Smith and Smith, isn't there? And Saatchi and Saatchi. And Johnson and Johnson. And Goldstein and Goldstein. OK, so I made the last one up.

Kind of catchy. I want a cut if it sells, mind.

Name or Initials Dec 23, 2020

The idea is to cover foreign and Mexican clients, so I think the best choice is to use the name or initials as you mention. Thank you for your advice Chris.
