El proveedor se compromete, obliga y responsabiliza

español al inglés Jurídico/Patentes Derecho: contrato(s)
I have to transalate an Statement of Conformity and one of the clauses says "el proveedor se compromete obliga y reponsabiliza de informar debida y convenientemente a sus proveedores"
I have problems with compromete, obliga y responsabiliza- se me ocurre "undertakes, commits itself and assumes the responsibility to" buy it sounds quite weird.
¿Can somenone help me"
Thank you in advance

Thank you all for your posts, I think that although the sentence is obviously redundant I must maintain "responsabiliza" and "comprometerse", which for me in Spanish have slightly different meanings. But you have all been very helpful . Thank you¡¡

@Billh Maybe this is a parsing issue? "The provider undertakes and (assumes responsibility for) the due and appropriate notification of its suppliers."

Anyway, I'm leaving it there.
Billh Jul 13, 2014:
D Lyons OK so please explain how you work in 'undertakes' into the grammar....
Billh Jul 13, 2014:
D Lyons And here it is 'assume responsibility to inform'. QED.
Billh Jul 13, 2014:
assumes responsibility to is a common expression, despite claims to the contrary.

Ok. Much Simpler
Susie Rawson Jul 13, 2014:
How about dropping the "itself" too, so as to make it even less wordy? "undertakes, commits and assumes responsibility to"
casani (asker) Jul 13, 2014:
Thank you very much!!
Laura Rodríguez Gómez Jul 13, 2014:
De acuerdo con Billh Tu opción me parece correcta
Billh Jul 13, 2014:
I think you have already answered the question very well, although I would leave out the 'the' before responsibility. If it were inserted as an answer I would agree with it.// It's a combination of legal and Spanish verbosity which is why it sounds a bit over the top.

undertakes, commits (itself) and assumes (the) responsibility to inform....

I would not have entered an answer but since your above answer is so good and another has been suggested, then I enter it. As a very experienced lawyer and legal translator into English I would be hard put to better it.

I stress this is YOUR answer. The words in brackets are optional and not really needed in my view but are not wrong.

I would add that so-called redundant phrases abound in the law, but that is not a good reason not to translate them. In many cases careful thought will show that they are not strictly redundant.

eg

- null and void
- will and testament
- cease and desist
- full and complete
- order and direct
- save and except
- made and entered into
- for and during the period
- good and sufficient
- undertake and agree
- suffer or permit
- covenants and agrees
etc.

The provider undertakes and assumes responsibility for

This is the standard phrase. I am not a lawyer, but I don't see that "obligar" adds anything to "comprometerse".
Peer comment(s):

neutral Billh : That's not the point. There are oodles of redundant legal expressions. And undertakes for?? Grammatically it does not work. Asker's version is better.// assume responsibility to is about ok. Undertakes for is grammatically incorrect.// see disc. entry....

It's not a standard expression in Spanish. And the grammar is perfect - "responsibility to" is incorrect.

The supplier shall

I disagree with Bill that redundant phrases in the source language should be translated with redundant phrases in the target language.
