asentamiento

español al inglés Otros Automóviles / Camiones
this is a text about vehicle testing:

I don't know what they mean with 'asentamiento'... any ideas?
many thanks

Discussion

Karen Rosenberg (asker) Feb 19, 2017:
There is no other reference to this, other than it appears to be some kind of enclosure from where the tests can be observed by both the spectators and the participants (when not participating, obviously). There is no indication as to why they would slip, other than if raining, maybe.
It seems to be a bit contradictory as on the one hand the safety vehicle has to "subir" them, so it appears to be at some elevated level above the testing track, but on the other hand, the last sentance locates it a track level.
Sorry not to be of more help.

Hi Karen, can you give us any more information as to what's going on here?

designated area, prepared area

A difficult one!

Concerning the form this "asentamiento" takes, I don't know how much of a clue we have in "para evitar que los asistentes y/o participantes bajen del asentamiento y puedan resbalar".

If it's an area that has been levelled, cleared of rubble... then perhaps "prepared area". If simply marked, cordoned off... then "designated area".

settling

Considering that the area must be completely settled, I suppose this idea is backed by the fact that if they get out of this area they may slip on the area that is not completely settled...

Just an idea
