Do you drive a minivan? I have never thought that I would ever drive a minivan. It's not supposed to be a "cool" thing to do. With two little kids, I now drive a gold minivan. Gold! Out of all the colors out there! Well, at least it hides dirt pretty well... This minivan is getting old and breaking down.
I am thinking about purchasing a new minivan now. So what's the best color for a minivan? I can't decide. This is more difficult than choosing the word for translation. Som... I am thinking about purchasing a new minivan now. So what's the best color for a minivan? I can't decide. This is more difficult than choosing the word for translation. Some people told me that you are more likely get pulled over by driving red cars. I heard that white ones have the best resale value. Aside from choosing out of a preference, does anyone have a methotical approach in choosing the color of a new car based on a solid research? I like red, but it will stand out from 20 miles away. I am not so sure if it will sell well when I get to sell it later. Suggestions? Anyone up for a red minivan?? ▲ Collapse

White is most visible at night and is also reflective when the weather is hot. But I suggest choosing a vehicle on other criteria; they'll sell you any kind in any color.
Unlike Henry Ford who would sell you a Model T in any color as long as it was black.

The other day I read an article about white becoming very popular again after it was pushed back by silver, black and all kinds of metallic paints. At least here in Europe you hardly ever saw expensive white cars, but now you see them on the streets more and more. I quite like white - but then again: maybe not so ideal for a minivan. You might look like a delivery man or ambulance driver.

This is a common expression in UK English, perhaps not in US, meaning a reckless, speeding, inconsiderate driver. It probably originated because most drive-yourself vans for hire happen to be white, and in general, drivers are less considerate of a hired car than of one they own, so tend to thrash the engine and try to see how much the van will do.
So for the UK, I would not recommend white, but it may be OK in the USA.

Check out safety issues as well. I remember to have read somewhere that minivans have a higher accident rate than other cars and have the tendency to flip over when in a crash.
If you need space with the kids why not get a station wagon. They appear solid and sturdy to me.
As for the colour. Personal preference I think.

What I would also avoid is a very dark colour, dark green or black because these make the car hotter in the Summer.

I think it refers to couriers' (delivery) vans, often white and often in a hurry...

In 1995 I got my only speeding ticket in 16 years (knocking on wood, spitting over the left shoulder) in a perfectly white car doing 70 miles in a 65-mile zone - a situation nearly impossible in Houston, cops here don't even bother with the minors like this on the freeways.
The cop was a woman, and I was driving the gift I gave myself in celebration of a greencard - a 95 5-l white Mustang convertible. I bet my last nickel the bleached-blond b..aby was plain jealous:-).

There are too many dark green ones! (One of which is ours: a Toyota Sienna.) I understand the "uncoolness" of the minivan, but sit in those captain's seats for a few rides, and you'll be hooked! They're quite comfortable.
I did *a lot* of research before we bought our minivan. We actually wanted a station wagon, but the problem was that we needed to transport extra people, not stuff, and we couldn't find a wagon that had enough room in the back seat. I did *a lot* of research before we bought our minivan. We actually wanted a station wagon, but the problem was that we needed to transport extra people, not stuff, and we couldn't find a wagon that had enough room in the back seat. Many were only an inch or two wider than our sub-compact. We are often taking 2-3 extra kids along somewhere, so minivan it was.
About safety - actually, minivans are safe; SUVs are the ones that flip over more. You can look up all the crash test ratings on Consumer Reports.

We have owned various minivans for the last 13 years. We started with a red one, and then bought a blue one. Currently we own a metallic green one. I have not noticed any advantages/disadvantages related to driving/selling/buying the different colors.
I’ll drive anything (within reason) and color has never been an issue; I always go for the bargains and features. After reading the dilemma on choosing a color, I started to take note of the colors in use -here in Michigan- and ... See more We have owned various minivans for the last 13 years. Now seriously, I have also heard about red (and black) cars being pulled more often, because they are supposed to be "sportsy" and therefore their drivers are supposed to be addicted to high speed.
