Description
In highly multicultural countries such as Canada and many others, thousands of immigrants arrive in the country each year, bringing foreign qualifications and other documents for accreditation in their adopted home. For translators, the translation of these foreign language documents can comprise a unique niche for translators seeking a new specialty area. This course is 60 minutes.
Target audience
-translators interested in working in the official document specialty
-experienced translators looking for tips on techniques in translating official documents
Learning objectives
This course will provide information on translation techniques for official documents, sources of official document translation work, and sample templates from a variety of countries, focusing in particular, however, on Latin America and North America.
This course is approved for one (1) American Translators Association Continuing Education point.

If I register will I be charged automatically?
No. Registering for the course means that you expressed interest in the training only. ProZ.com training session vacancies are limited, and minimum attendee confirmation is required in order for training sessions to be conducted, so be sure to book your seat as soon as possible.
How do I purchase my spot?
To purchase your seat at this session please click on the "buy" button. Available slots are limited and will be assigned to registered and paid participants as soon as payment is reported. Early payment is advised in order to secure participation. Allow some time for payment processing if you are paying by wire transfer.
After your payment is received, your status will be changed to “registered and paid” and your spot for the session will be secured. An invoice and receipt of payment will be sent to you for your records.
How do I access the online platform?
72 hours before the webinar takes place, you will receive an invitation to join the session. Please, click the registration link or button provided in the invitation email and complete the registration form.

To Use VoIP (microphone and speakers or headset):

• NOT required: Microphone - attendees can communicate with the trainer through incorporated chat.
Recommendations
• For the visual section of the training course, we recommend that you have a 64kbps link. This means using an ISDN line or Broadband. Wireless connection is NOT recommended.
• For the audio section of the training course, we recommend that you have a headset or speakers.
• We recommend that you log in 30 minutes in advance of the start time to prepare for the training course.
Courses will be open half an hour before the start time. Please login before the start time to ensure that everything on your system is working correctly.
Bio: Suzanne Deliscar is both a lawyer and a Spanish and French to English translator. A graduate of McMaster University with a Combined Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Latin American Studies, and a minor in Science, Technology and Public Policy in 2000, Ms. Deliscar went on to obtain a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law in 2003. Ms. Deliscar was called to the Bar of the Province of Ontario in 2004 and has been actively practicing law on a full-time basis since that time. As a lawyer-linguist, Suzanne focuses on official document and legal translation, and also trains fellow language professionals in the areas of marketing and legal translation.

Indeed, all registered and paid users will be emailed with the link to the video recording and handouts after the webinar. In this case registrants receive unlimited access to webinar video recordings and handout materials at no extra cost.

I would not have thought of approaching directly some of the organizations you mentioned. Thanks for that. Otherwise, ti was unfortunate to lose audio at moments. Would have been nice to hear live the response to a few more questions.

Though I joined later, I have found out many useful tips that I didn't know before like translating seals, etc. Looking forward to getting links to the handouts and the recording, and then maybe I will have more questions to ask. I am afraid I can't join twitter - I have registered there long ago and never used it - so all the passwords are forgotten. I suppose it would be easier for me to communicate via facebook.
