I have not planned the summer holidays yet, but I have already taken a week off in spring, with two more weeks planned throughout the year, plus at least a week around Christmas. I like my work but I love being outside, which is usually what my holidays amount to (walking, cycling, sailing).
I have been working straight through the year for a while. I used to take long vacations when my children were still at home, but they are long gone and we haven’t spent vacations together for some time (trying to get 14 people agreeing on the same date and place is an almost impossible task…). I enjoy having one or two days off here and there between jobs, rather than very few long vacations. This last weekend was a long one as I had no work last Friday or yesterday. It all adds up probably... See more I have been working straight through the year for a while. It all adds up probably to more than 4/5 weeks a year, but I’m not counting! ▲ Collapse
I wish I knew | Jun 8, 2021 |
All the places I would go to are outside this country, so until we get the all-clear for travelling we are stuck at home.
And if I'm home I may as well be available for work, of which there is fortunately no shortage at the moment.

Ventnai España Local time: 03:25 alemán al inglés + ... surely "will you take"? | Jun 8, 2021 |
I'm hoping for a week or so in Switzerland to visit friends toward the end of August and then visit my parents for a week in the UK in October after 18 months. It all very much depends on how COVID progresses and any restricitons governments may place on travel

I have to go back to the UK for two weeks this summer - which I would rather not have to do, but in this case it's an obligation. However, I will still be working there, although at a more leisurely pace than usual.

I live in such a nice place that I have no great desire to get away from it.

8, at least, for anything from beauty sleep at home to ocean resorts.
But I'm not familiar with species like regular hours and weekends - I can lead this kind of lifestyle and I cherish it, so days/hours wise I work no less during the year than anyone who observes it and takes just one or two weeks.

I do not take a whole week at once unless I am recovering from such burn-out jobs that I can afford to lose clients for the rest of the month.
When I started out, I thought it would be a nice thing to announce it to my clients so that they plan, but it usually ended up that they sent me more work on the day I said to be offline than the 3 previous weeks as if they wanted to check if I am still alive.
So it will not be officially talking taking off to my clients... maybe... See more I do not take a whole week at once unless I am recovering from such burn-out jobs that I can afford to lose clients for the rest of the month.

So it will not be officially talking taking off to my clients... maybe "too busy to answer within the hour"... ▲ Collapse

I'm afraid I forgot the meaning of the phrase "day off" needless to say about "weeks".
