You mean creating the need of being hooked at my beloved phone screen with wiring coming out of my ears and a glazed, bovine look? Certainly bloody not.
I'd rather buy a crosswords booklet or eat a raw lemon.
My projects don't need mobile track-keeping, because when I'm mobile, I don't work and all my projects are on hold.

When I'm out my calls are redirected to my mobile (a very dumb phone: makes calls and sends texts!) and I always carry with me a very mini laptop to check my emails if I'm away more than 1 hour. I either work or I'm mobile, not both at the same time! Too much connectivity can be just as bad as too little and I do need to disconnect from time to time… | | | Mario Chavez (X) Local time: 05:28 inglés al español + ... This poll reminds me of cold calling and unsolicited marketing questionnaires.
No, why would I need a mobile app to follow my projects? By definition, a mobile app has to meet these features:
1) It resides in a smartphone, tablet or similar device, iOS or Android (or Windows?)
2) Any mobile app needs a server farm to collect minimum data and store customer's data (i.e. the projects)

I do just fine with a lo-tec sheet of A4 for each month, with columns for all the information I need and crossing off when I reach various stages. (Client, date due, delivered, invoiced, paid.)
I keep it under my keyboard, instantly available, faster than closing files, opening browsers or whatever, swiping screens and all the electronic stuff.
I update with pen or pencil, and if I am travelling I take a backup copy and slip it in the case with my laptop.

I have never found anything more efficient - or faster! ▲ Collapse | | | Is there really that much to "keep track" of? | Jun 18, 2016 |
I keep getting this or that being thrown at my in various advertisements along those lines. You can only accept so many projects, and can only do so many projects. We are not translation companies that throw umpteen projects at umpteen translators - we are the translators, and each project takes a fair amount of time. When there is a "lot" (maybe 5) then I use a whiteboard. It's clearly visible and handy, rather than one more thing hidden in the bowels of my computer. | | | | Michael Harris Alemania Local time: 11:28 Miembro 2006 alemán al inglés
I recon you should be able to do that without help from others?

Using a mobile for any professional purpose other than answering calls, messaging clients or reading e-mails when I"m away from home (and only then) is against my principles. Installing hundreds of apps in my mobile is also against my principles. I only have those that are really necessary. I am not a slave of my mobile and I'll never be. Mobiles are not working tools, whatsoever. They are communication tools. | | | NO but...I want apps for jobs push notifications. | Jun 18, 2016 |
Some of the major agencies already provide apps to stay tuned along upcoming jobs.
Apps are not only for smartphones but also for tablets with keyboards and netbooks or hybrid laptops.
Only OneHourTranslation doesn't provide anything, not even rss feed.
I even can't use the app from Proz because it isn't available for Windows Phone or Windows 10 and I don't use iPhone or Android Models to my work.

Your first announcement sounds intriguing. I have not heard anything about agencies providing job-announcing apps!
Maybe some apps will remain useful a few years from now, but nobody knows if we'll be using smartphones or tablets in their present form 10-20 years from now. When the number of projects exceeds a certain capacity - i.e. too much for my grey cells to handle - then I resort to A4-size paper or A4-size paper cut in half (I use the reverse side of printouts) and that pre-Internet thang, the HB or B pencil. This has served me well and is still amazingly efficient in this age of electronic thingumybobs and whatchamacallits. ▲ Collapse | | | Thayenga Alemania Local time: 11:28 inglés al alemán + ... My procedure along with my brain. Should they ever fail me, well, then I guess it would be time to retire.
My Excel spreadsheet is all I really need.
If I were more mobile-savvy, I might possibly appreciate having an app to keep track of progress on long jobs so that I don't fall behind my daily quota. That would be the only application that I can imagine. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Would you buy a mobile app to keep track of your projects?
