New hard drive - Studio 2011 not working because license wasn't deactivated - and now?!

Hi,

due to severe hard drive problems I had to have the hard drive changed and all content was transferred from the damaged one onto the new one.

Now I learnt that I would have had to deactivate my 2011 license first before activating it again on the new hard drive, but due to the technical difficulties this was next to impossible. Now what do I do?

That happened to me too Oct 23, 2012

Hi Carolin,

Same thing happened to me. I contacted SDL and purchased an additional licence for EUR 24 that can be activated 2 times (so this will never happen to me again).

Also SDL support can deactivate your licence and reopen it, but that may take some time.

I was up and running again within 30 minutes.

I haven't been doing much today except for trying to solve this problem or getting hold of someone from SDL - could you provide my with a link or a contact? There doesn't seem to be a proper support page.

These problems have been discussed so many times at this forum, you just need to do a search. Here is what you need to do:

If you have a support contract you should be able to log a ticket here:

If you have a support contract you should be able to log a ticket here:

Once logged in you will be able to log a case.

If you don't have a support contract, you can still receive installation and licensing support.
In order to do this you can:
1) Visit http://kb.sdl.com/
2) Select in the top menu, Solution Finder
3) You can then select from the 3 options whether it is Installation and download problem or Licensing
4) Once you exhausted the 2 or 3 sub item that the system will ask you to check, you will be able to log a ticket if the issue can not be resolved.
