español term

Apex: NVNP. RSPEI.

español al inglés Medicina Medicina (general) Acronyms
Examen fisico: Apex: NVNP. RSPEI. R1 único. R2 Desdoblado fisiológicamente. No R3. No R4

This comes after the bit about JVP (jugular venous pressure). I've looked in all the usual places but can't find anything.

The report is from Venezuela.

Thanks :-)

Hello, whatever you decide it would be advisable to put a footnote for these abbreviatons, with your provisos:)

español term (edited): Apex: NVNP

apex beat neither visible nor palpable

"Apex: NVNP" is certainly "apex no visible y no palpable". Confidence level 5 for this one

For the English translation, see e.g. Hurst's the Heart:

At last... RSPEI = retracción sistólica paraesternal izquierda.

I would translate this as "systolic retraction at the left parasternal area/region". I believe this is a normal finding, which might explain why it is rendered as an acronym. Some references in English:

The Left Parasternal Impulse in Health
In 14 of the normal subjects there was an outward movement of the chest wall in the left parasternal area during early systole, followed by retraction in late systole.

Right ventricular impulse — Normally, an inward movement (systolic retraction) is appreciated by palpation of the lower left parasternal area.

NVNP = "nonventilated nosocomial pneumonia" ???
Peer comment(s):

neutral liz askew : your second suggestion is not possible as this is a diagnosis and would not be "doable" on auscultation, IMHO

Agree it wouldn't be "doable". Maybe a diagnostic note (hence the ??? above).
