Publicidad: PROC: publicity, making (sth) public or publicly known, (approx) open court, open justice, one of the cardinal rules of the judicial process, is that, save in exceptional circumstances, trials and hearings (audiencias) must be held publicly and in open court (sesión pública), in order to ensure fairness; the Spanish principle of publicidad is therefore equivalent to the English notion that justice "must be done and seen done".
