Hasta donde yo sé, terraja.
Y para spindle yo no usaría eje o vástago, más bien husillo. Es una sugerencia. :)
2). Con un[os] golpecito[s] (pero en este último caso yo no habría redactado el original como está y habría dicho, por ejemplo, "by gently tapping [repeatedly] on it").
