From 2000 to 2003, I have taught English and Spanish to adults and children, locals as well as foreigners. I really enjoyed it!

Translation is really the perfect job for me, but I would also have liked to work in a bookshop (I did it once as a summerjob and loved it) or a library. Being close to books is an absolute need for me

Hi, how are you?
Well, I'm an Industrial Engineer, so I would dedicate more time in the field.
Another option could be bicycling, I'm a cyclist and I would try to be a good one.
You must be wordering about all those things I can do at the same time. I think, there is a time for everything, isn't it?

I´d have to find something which, like translation, would allow me to carry on learning all the time, and to enjoy languages.
Ah yes, or work as a dry-stone waller. Does that make me weird?

I would not work in a place with a lot of people, such as in retail, as I have little patience with people. I've done it as a student, and hated it. Really, if I could not be a translator, I don't know what I'd do.

So I definitely know that translating is far better for me than schoolteaching.
I also worked in-house for a publisher for a while. Better than teaching, but again I much prefer translating.
But if I weren't a translator, I would like to get involved full-time in Christian work (missionary, pastor, or even better if I could make a living from it: writing books related to the Christian faith).

I'm treating this as a theoretical kind of question. Here goes...
If I wasn't a translator, I'd go into journalism. I'd get to use writing skills and be creative.
I've also thought I should have gone into Human Resources because I like working with people.
My most improbable and more of a wish-list type of choice than a reality would be to be an immunologist. The human immune system is fascinating!

Before I became full time freelancer I was working in two other places and I hated both those jobs. I can't imagine I could go "back" and not be a translator.

I managed to work in historical research for a couple of years and that would be my real passion. Unfortunately it is not that easy to earn a living at it.
