AFAIK, I'm still using the same tools and approach as I was five years ago. There might be the odd vocabulary item that I'm tending to favour nowadays, but I can't really think of any sea changes.

It has improved significantly, simply because I started using a CAT about five years ago, and that was the greatest change of all, over 32 years in the profession, no doubt.

Five years ago I was a disgruntled employee having to use an almost obsolete CAT tool, now I barely ever use CATs. Only when the agency provides me with a licence in fact.
Apart from that, I don't think I've changed much apart from speeding up considerably as I gain in experience.

..but it depends on the type of translation you work on. Then they can be invaluable! I use SDL Trados when working on repetitive texts such as medical devices and then yes, it really helps me speed up. I would not recommend it for literary translation though!

Maybe a little older and wiser - I have used CATs more than 5 years.

If my way of translation hadn't changed, I'd felt at least rather disappointed

Several times in my in-house career I found myself translating the same text years apart. They were usually identical.
Still, I think my style has changed somewhat since I started freelancing because I've been exposed to so many different subject areas. Also, I read more now, and I'm picking up new expressions and expanding my vocabulary.
