It has happened to me numerous times when I had house guests, classes (I studied to be a landscape designer for 7 years), or volunteer commitments. Actually, I should have said "Yes" because it has also happened when I was traveling.

No, it never happened to me even when some years ago I used to take long vacations when my children were still at home. Nowadays, I work straight through the year and have one or two days off here and there between jobs and I always check my email. I must say though that I have more than once missed "dream" jobs because I was overloaded with work.

If you mean a large, well-paid, fun and not very difficult job, I'm still waiting for one to come in.

I've missed a few good jobs in short holidays (never more than a week, and very rarely).
Vacation??? what a laugh.
