Not sure Nov 17, 2017

Probably better, as I have had less work.

Other Nov 17, 2017

Until now 2017 has been better than 2015. I’m not comparing to 2016 as this was an amazing year as just in the first three months of 2016 I generated the same revenue as in the whole previous year: I don’t think that will happen again…

The usual rollercoaster ride Nov 17, 2017

A significantly better first semester. Then a lean third quarter, and the last quarter chart went up through the ceiling.

Much better Nov 17, 2017

But 2016 was hard for me because I had to turn down work to take care of personal and family matters.

Much, Much Better Nov 17, 2017

I had several months of famine in the feast-famine cycle in 2016 as it took work several months to return to normal volumes after I was unavailable for a period at the start of the year due to ill health. In comparison 2017 has been much better, as I have had a reasonably constant stream of work every month.

About the same Nov 17, 2017

However, this year has been less hectic than 2016. I've managed to say "no" to a few offers, and raise my rate for new clients, but my income has remained more or less the same.

Worse - Exchange issues Nov 18, 2017

The volume of work is practically the same. So are the rates. How come?
Most of my clients are abroad and pay me in USD.
Last year, the USD was worth BRL 3.40 in average.
This year, we had rates as low as BRL 3.02. Great for the country, but bad for me. This difference was exactly my extra money. This year, I'm making enough to pay my bills and taxes. No surplus.
But the USD is already reaching its regular levels again. I hope 2018 will be good again.

I bet the tax office was looking forward to that;-)

As for me, I took on a lot less work in the first 3 months but the rest has been about the same as every year.
