Comfortable, but ... Dec 21, 2015

Since I go out walking four times a day with my dogs, and since people drop by quite often, I need to be tidy and presentable, so that might qualify as "neat but informal." Definitely not grunge.

A mixture Dec 21, 2015

I've been dressing more neatly recently, because I feel it makes a (subtle) difference to how I approach work. But since it's so cold and rainy outside, I end up layering with about 50 jumpers...so in any case, I look like a bag of laundry.

Informal, comfortable clothing Dec 21, 2015

but, in truth, it depends:

Pajamas - for the 1st hour or so after waking up
Informal, comfortable clothing - for the rest of the day
Formal clothing - if I have to go out...

Other - seasonally Dec 21, 2015

In Winter, thick woolly layers with half gloves and hand warmers inside them since it takes a while for the office to heat up. Concrete walls facing north does not help.

In Summer, anything from beach shorts and Aloha shirts and long-sleeved shirts once the air-conditioning kicks in.

In all seasons, I avoid bodices, fishnet tights and hairs

In all seasons, I avoid bodices, fishnet tights and hairshirts like the plague.

Well you won't catch me working without my face on Dec 21, 2015

I'm a professional, not a slob, so I tend to rock the sexy secretary look with enough cleavage to keep the bankers happy on Skype

But I leave the pearls at home

Clean comfortable cotton Dec 21, 2015

I work in a small room that easily gets stuffy, or cold at this time of year when I open the window. (I do anyway, or open the nearby bathroom window that ventilates without a draught...)

If my clothes smell of cooking when I work in the evening after supper, I go and change my jumper. I love fish and spicy food, but not the smell of left-overs!

If my clothes smell of cooking when I work in the evening after supper, I go and change my jumper. I love fish and spicy food, but not the smell of left-overs!

Artificial fibres seem to gather static electricity by the computer, producing an uncomfortable tense kind of warmth, so practically all my wardrobe is cotton, with a few silk items and a couple of lovely soft shawls that I wear for work when the window is open... They came from a charity shop and I don't know what they are made of, but viscose and acrylic are not nearly as comfortable.

I have to be presentable if anyone comes to the door, or if I decide to pop out for a breath of fresh air, but otherwise clean and comfortable, jumper and soft jersey trousers, anything goes!

Plus one of my favourite glass beads or pendants to fiddle with.

Informal, comfortable Dec 21, 2015

I happpen to work in my pyjamas in the morning in case I am late on a job and need to wake up early and start working straight ahead. But it tends to make me feel a bit groggy, so I dress normally as soon as I can.

Like others, I'm often in the office in pyjamas/sweats for the first few hours (often in the office as early as 4am or earlier...nobody pays me to sleep!), then get dressed after tea+breakfast to walk the dog
in the summer: shorts and flip-flops or trainers/sneakers, concert or race t-shirts (I'm a runner).
in the winter: jeans, cargo pants, khakis, same t-shirts, flannel shirt or sweatshirt over the top, sneakers/trainers.

I'll put on a shirt and tie if I go out interpreting, but not otherwise.
Today I am wearing jeans, a long sleeve thermal undershirt, a 3 Days Grace concert tour t-shirt, a flannel shirt, and a pair of Asics running trainers.

it depends Dec 21, 2015

If I have to go out (drive children to school/offices...) so I dress according to what I have to do.
Most of the times, otherwise, comfortable clothes.
NEVER pajamas...
I get dressed at 7 every day, unless I am sick.

Okay, you get dressed, but, in WHAT COLORS? Dec 21, 2015

I can't believe nobody asked what colors one wears while working, whether alone with the cat or holding off a horde of attention-hungry kids (or cats —take your pick).

Since I only venture outside one to three times a week to drive and get groceries, LP records, second-hand books and pastries, my “uniform” is pretty basic: cargo pants, comfortable socks (it's winter here, so they're wooly) and layered clothing of tan or primary colors: yellow, blue, green, etc. tee and a jacke

Three of my jackets are candy red. So there's that.

I forgot: I have no pajamas, but I wear a tee, long gym pants and a Henley…and thick socks to walk on my bamboo floor.

Colours Dec 21, 2015

Most of my trousers are black, but I have a navy pair and a grey pair.

Selection of tops in blue, green and turquoise, a black one with thin red stripes. Under the thick tops a tee-shirt, often red or maroon, occasionally black or blue.

The shawls are one black, one turquoise, silky, cashmere texture.

No pets, sorry. We are not the types for long-term commitments like a dog. We inherited a pretty tabby cat at one time, which we cherished for five years, but

No pets, sorry. We are not the types for long-term commitments like a dog. We inherited a pretty tabby cat at one time, which we cherished for five years, but the neighbours overfed her when we visited family or went on holiday. She caught baby birds in the garden, which made her sick... and one day she fell asleep and forgot to wake up. I hope she is having a great time in the happy hunting grounds!
