The second decade of the 21st century is here and yet many interpreters and translators still have a 20th century mentality. I want to talk about the future, about how we are going to participate in the making of our future, how we are going to "work together" with the new forces of the industry (the software companies, the Language Service Providers, the Google-translate's of the world) to maintain our position as relevant in the 21st century. Please do not change the date on my account, as my trip to the states depends on many factors which I cannot influence, so not even October is a sure thing. Besides, I think a powwow on the official "translators' day" is a great idea.

Would prefer the 29th or October 5 if possible. The ATA exam proctor is more likely to be able to attend these dates also.

Please confirm if you would like to sign up for any of the following "tasks":
1. Publicity - Need someone to create "buzz" this week in and outside the ProZ community about our pow wow (and include the link to join) so that others who have not heard about it have the possibility of joining us.

2. Report - Someone to write a post after the event summarizing why we met and what we discussed. As brief or as long as the reporter wishes to make it.
3. ProZ group - Someone who would open and manage a group in ProZ maybe called ProZ 21st Century Translators and Interpreters or something of the sort (creator and manager free to choose name) where we could in the future discuss issues about the 21st Century and use as an alternative for communication in between powwows.
4. Linkedin group? - Same as above, but in Linkedin
5. Facebook group? - Same as above, but in Facebook
6. Anything else you would like to do? Open to any other suggestions....
