Now I don't remember exactly the initial question I put, but I asked something else, for sure It got modified, I guess. I asked this after working on a project I really enjoyed. It kept me smiling all the way through it. I mean, I was literally smiling all the time, non-stop, while working. Like in those moments when you read a really good book, that answers most of your questions ... Of course, most of us have happy or funny translation moments, even in texts that were not intended to be funny at all (it happened to me with a crime investigation report, really). My question was intended for those long term projects that you enjoy so much working on...

Either because the text was very well written with figurative language and kept me interested all the way through or, on the contrary, because it was so poorly written... Some years ago, this sentence (English text translated from Japanese) made me laugh out loud: “Clean with a damp cross”...

I once worked for a translation agency in Germany translating an escort agency's web site. The text wasn't particularly X-rated or anything, but the very subject matter made me chuckle for days. I had a good laugh with the translation agency owner (who was kind of a friend of mine) about that one for a long time ("Any more escort documents today, Thomas?"). I don't know if her escort business improved, but the translation agency owner said she paid the entire bill with large rolls of cash.

Whenever I read that a couple had been matched to their future child I smiled!

Different kinds of smiling:
- Mood elevation occurs when I agree with what is being said in the text I am translating;
- Very motivating Powerpoint presentations, despite my general cynicism as to their ultimate usefulness;
- Subject matter: Recently, a product list for remedies one might find in a pharmacy for "embarrassing ailments" meant that there was quite a difference between what initially went through my mind, and what I actually typed in the translation.
