español term

Morbo

español al inglés Arte/Literatura Jergas
I have no idea how you say "Morbo" in English... as in "Joder, qué morbo me da tu prima, tío." Or even "morbazo" as in "El vecino del quinto siempre tiende la ropa sin camiseta, me da un morbazo que no veas."

It is something that makes you horny/hot and sweatty/flustered... Would appreciate any ideas you may have.

she/he/it gets me all hot and bothered. At least, common in the US.

Horniness... :D ummm... OK... :D
Mario Freitas Mar 26, 2014:
Horny is good enough, although in the Spanish text it's a noun, so you have to move things around or say horniness.
Helena Chavarria Mar 26, 2014:
I'm not really sure what you're looking for but working from 'lascivious' included in the references posted below, I've found 'steamy'. Otherwise, you can try Googling 'a glossary of sexual slang' and I'm sure you will find what you need.

Fascinates (me)

Somehow I really think the verb "fascinate" here fits in with morbo because it's not specifically sexual, nor is it too colloquial, yet it conveys that there's just something about the person that you can't quite put your finger on, but you like (in a (kind of!) similar way as "morbo" does in Spanish).

Just another idea to add to the answers already here :)

he/she really does it for me

Colloquial, not too "dirty", and easily understood in the right context.

You can see lots of examples of this being used on google: https://www.google.com/search?q=really does it for me&ie=utf...

Also often used in the negative, e.g. "he just doesn't really do it for me".

It can even be used for objects. See http://www.mybilliedesigns.com/blog/2013/03/pen-and-paper-ju...

The word Morbo is spanish, and has several meanings. I think the mood of the music fits the gothic undertones of the word, like a thrill or morbid curiosity. Careful! ***A slang meaning of the word is "turned on".*** Don't be suprised if you get vulgar results from a search engine using this word, the music is not like that.

Gracias a los dos!
Consulte a un amigo y me dijo que para decir "algo me da morbo" utilizaba "to turn on": "He/she turns me on".

morbo
In Spanish slang, sex appeal, particularly when referring to a shady type
Me dan morbo los macarras
I feel attracted to hoodlums

Vi a Eduardo Noriega en Tesis.¡Qué morbo tiene el tío!

Como sabes, el sufijo -azo es aumentativo. Morbazo sería un gran morbo, y el morbo es, coloquialmente (y en España) excitación sexual.

En www.jergasdehablahispana.org lo puedes ver (aquí el vínculo a "morbo").

But you may have to reword the sentence?

Yes, in this sense the best suggestion I have ever received was "sultry", proposed by Susana Galilea.

In the US, this kind of woman is usually referred to as "hot," particularly in the media and by younger people. I would take "sultry" a step further and say the woman might be referred to as a "sultry siren."

El morbo / La morbosidad = Lust; Morboso = Lustful
In Latin America or Spanish colloquial usage “morbo” means simply lust, lascivious.

Example:

“Si mi señora me diera más morbo,mi vida sería mucho menos morbosa. Hay personas que van a un entierro por puro morbo.”

We can translate this as (two examples):

1. If I could get my wife to arouse me more then my life would not be as lustful. There are persons that go to a burial for pure lust.

2. If my wife excited me more, I would lead a much less lascivious life…

I quite like the word "sultry" and what comes to mind is a "vixen". But if you go for this, you may have to do some word rearrangement. Just some additional thoughts.
Note from asker:
Muchas gracias Taña... tengo claro el significado, lo que pasa es que buscaba una traducción más "corta" digamos... algo que fuera igualmente coloquial y que fuera realmente de un más puro "slang"... "turn me on" juest doesn't do it for me...
oh now... sultry... that has a kind of decadent thing going... nice... Or, as referenced... just plain old "hot"
