Lo he visto en muchas situaciones en las que se refieren a los síntomas que se encuentran en un síndrome pero no se me ocurre cómo decirlo.

Context Agree with Robert. It always helps to know as much information as possible about what type of document you're working with (for example ... where it comes from, for what purpose, for whom it's written) and complete sentences before your text (and even sometimes after). The more information you give, and the clearer the context, the better the chances that your colleagues can give you an appropriate answer.

I think this is what the text means, i.e. it's not apparent owing to a lack of clinical symptoms.
