Todos los pacientes fueron laparotomizados con diagnóstico preoperatorio de cáncer de vesícula en 5 y de hígado en 1; basados en los hallazgos clínicos (masa palpable y baja de peso) y radiológicos. Se encontró como hallazgo común, densas adherencias inflamatorias perivesiculares, vesícula de paredes engrosadas, de aspecto tumoral, aplastronada, con aparente infiltración de parénquima hepático, cálculos, y en un caso densa adherencia a segmento de colon transverso. En cuatro pacientes se evidenciaron adenopatías regionales tanto del hilio hepático como de la arteria hepática realizándose en dos de ellos disección ganglionar del hilio hepático, ligamento hepatoduodenal y arteria hepática, y en uno de ellos, adicionalmente, disección del tronco celíaco y del grupo ganglionar retropancreático.

La paciente fue sometida a laparotomía exploratoria, constatándose un seudo plastrón (figura 3 y 4), se drenó aproximadamente 100 cc. de líquido purulento espeso y fétido con restos apendiculares y coprolito (figura 5), se lavó y se colocó drenaje en la zona aplastronada. La paciente permaneció 5 días internada y dada de alta para continuar con tratamiento ambulatorio. La evolución postoperatoria fue completamente satisfactoria.
