Good, I've learnt something new! It was unknown to me as a tendency, just made me think of German philosophers. Trouble is, no teenagers in the family any more, they've outgrown angst!

I agree with Christine that using "angst" with an explanation may be the best solution because "angst" music is close to Gothic Rock and Gothic/Epic Metal, yet not all angst is Gothic and/or Rock, and/or Metal... I have found the following extra reference: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-angst.htm

Me gustan las sugerencias de Patricia. También se podría usar 'angst' acompañado por la explicación, por si la denominación se populariza en español (como hip-hop, grunge, y otros)
