APARTE DE QUE EL INGLÉS DE ESTA PERSONA ES BASTANTE POBRE, ESTOY CONFUNDIDA. SÉ QUE EN IRLANDA HAY MUCHOS PELIRROJOS, PERO DUDO QUE NO HAYA RUBIOS. TAMPOCO ME PARECE QUE ELLA ESTÉ DICIENDO QUE FUERON EL COLOR DE SU PELO Y SUS OJOS AZULES LO QUE LA DELATÓ. ¿ALGUIEN ENTIENDE A QUÉ SE REFIERE LA PARTE QUE ENCERRÉ ENTRE ASTERISCOS DOBLES?

Irish are in general not mean spirited and rude people.
Generally they are hospitable and very friendly. However there are always some who spoil it for others.
Irish people find it a little difficult to adapt to change and because of its insular location at the edges of Europe even Europe seemed a distant land many years ago. When I arrived here 16 years ago people were aware of Germany
because many students used to work in Germany for the holidays but in general Germany had a very bad image because of its horrendous past. This gave even rise to some prejudice towards me here in Ireland. My skin colour is white so when I didn't open my mouth people didn't really know I was German. **Although most people did suspect it since I'm much compared to Irish women and have blond hair and blue eyes. That kinda gave me away a bit here in Ireland!**
However when I speak you can certainly hear my German
accent! Most people showed an interest in my culture and were very nice about it but some were very mean. For example, when I worked for a company here when I was much younger I got a promotion fairly quickly because I enjoy working hard. As soon as I received my promotion the discrimination started at my work place. It started
slowly by people sniggering and then escalated. I'm not
confrontational by nature so maybe I should have nibbed it in the bud before it got out of hand. I probably would handle the situation differently now. Well, in the end my
colleagues greeted me with the Hitler salute, refused to
sit with me in the canteen, misplaced my work documentation, locked me inside the bathroom for many hours, threw insults and threats at me continuously
and even pulled a chair under me... In the end I chose to resign and when I left the building everyone cheered. I remember walking out the building unable to see where I
was going because tears were welling up in my eyes but I
didn't want them to flow over because I didn't want to give the others the satisfaction of seeing me cry. It was one of my most painful experiences in my life.
Well, this was the extreme. However there are also some
amusing stories related to misconceptions regarding my nationality. For some reason Irish people often presume that Germans are very promiscious.
As a result I have often be approached about advice with personal relations you know what I'm talking about and was even asked if I was selling contraceptives! This stuff
is funny!
There is lots more to tell but I leave it for another
post otherwise I will run into the danger of writing a novel!
