La contraposición los umbrales o estándares, bien determinados y de validez general, propios los procesos de assurance, y los modelos de referencia, ideales, contextuales y complejos, que caracterizan los procesos de enhancement ilumina bien las diferentes lógicas que **animan** cada uno de los procesos. El uno busca asegurar, garantizar frente a terceros, unos criterios o niveles mínimos y el otro aspira a la excelencia, desde la lógica de la innovación, la creatividad y la investigación. El uno es propio de la exigencia del exterior hacia el interior (y la respuesta que desde el interior se da a esa exigencia) y el otro es puramente interno. El uno es establecido a través de directrices de obligado cumplimiento (impuesto, con mayor o menor grado de negociación previa) y el otro pasa necesariamente por la implicación activa interna, el convencimiento, la responsabilidad y la autonomía, alimentadas por un contexto favorable y estimulante a estos efectos.

agree neilmac : I prefer "driving" to "that drive"... Phil's "guide" is a nice option for education texts too.

facilitate / foster

Facilitate would frankly sound better in English, but foster is closer to the original.

bolster

Of course the challenge is to look for a verb that will work with concepts as the direct object instead of a person. I believe bolster can accept an inanimate direct object. I found this as one of the translations in Marina Orellana's Glosario internacional del traductor.
