This I have observed also in previous years: All the professional season's greetings by email, postcard etc. come from agencies I haven't been working this year at all. I only happen do be in their database. Not a single real customer has sent any of these. Should I draw the conclusion that those who know me don't like me?

Don't jump to conclusions... Dec 23, 2014

... there's still time! But it may be a great opportunity for you to send a personal mail to each client you have worked with this year. And if you don't receive a reply or any thanks... Stay Calm and Panic!

Happy New Year!

My conclusion... Dec 24, 2014

...about those clients I have been working with who have not sent me any season's greetings:

- they don't like me (fine as long as they still pay me); or
- they like me too much to flood my inbox with non-personal greetings (for which I am grateful); or
- they don't celebrate Christmas or New year (I sometimes get season's greetings type messages around Hebrew and Chinese holidays)

Happy Christmas!

Absurd Dec 26, 2014

i have to say that I have always found it irritating and absurd when an agency for which iI have done no work for several years sends me one of their boilerplate holiday greeting messages (these are NEVER personal).

I sometimes respond with a curt request that the agency in question remove my name from its database.

The last thing I need are more superfluous e-mails.

Since Christmas is not celebrated in each and every country around the globe, it's somewhat unlikely that your clients send you season greetings. If those who do celebrate it don't send you any, then don't lose any sleep over it. Those who keep sending you work (though no season greetings) must be happy with your work, thus appreciate you.

Agencies - and software providers! - that you haven't had any contact with throughout the year, but who still send you these greetings can be "handled" in two ways: File 13 or a nice email requesting them to remove you from their contact list.

There's no reason to spend anymore time on those. Click "delete" and move on into a prosperous 2015!
