Fellow Greek translators,

I'm coming to Athens on the weekend of 14 December especially to see Eleftheria Arvanitaki's concert in a club called the Rex Club.

I have a question though, which I couldn't get answered by the club itself (bad English):

Is it possible to book a table for a single person, or does it make more sense to sit at the bar?
If the second option is recommended, do you think I need to book in advance?

Fellow Greek translators,

I'm coming to Athens on the weekend of 14 December especially to see Eleftheria Arvanitaki's concert in a club called the Rex Club.

I have a question though, which I couldn't get answered by the club itself (bad English):

Is it possible to book a table for a single person, or does it make more sense to sit at the bar?
If the second option is recommended, do you think I need to book in advance?

And since we're at it, is there anyone who's interested in coming to one of these concerts?

I appreciate your input on these questions from someone who should learn Greek...

Better find a friend Dec 4, 2007

Hi!

I don't think you would be able to reserve a table to yourself. 1st reason, you almost certainly have to get a bottle of whiskey, costing around 200 euros! Second, clubs tend to put 4 people at each table. Probably you will be made to sit with a bunch of strangers - which turned out great for me. You must be prepared to pay around 50 - 70 euros, even if you only eat a couple of peanuts. Last time I went, I HAD to buy a bottle of spirit or wine, for every 2 people, at a cost of a

As for the bar, you don't have to make reservations, but will you will pay around 20 euros to get in + a drink & probably will have to stand for a veeerry long time. Not recommended for people over 25 years old! Believe me.

The best solution would be reserving a seat at a table and being prepared to be with 2 - 3 others you don't know, plus having to shout at them if you want to chat. Other than that, it should be quite an interesting experience.

Have fun!

Prices Dec 4, 2007

For this particular show, the cost of a bottle (of whiskey or vodka etc.) is 180 euros (and serves 4 people maximum) and the cost of a bottle of wine is 100 euros and serves two people maximum.

I agree with Diamantis that going to the bar is not an option at all. At least, as far as I am concerned - and I am 26!

So, the best thing to do is to invite a friend and book a table for two, or more!

PERSONA QUE INICIÓ LA HEBRA
Thanks for great tips Dec 5, 2007

Now I have a clearer idea of what is involved.
I derive my knowledge from a remote village in Attica where I sat on the bar for the whole night quite pleasurably and enjoyed good rembetico; or from a concert in a large town square - but this is new experience for me...

I'll see if I can find someone to join me...

Many thanks, Doron
