Hi.
Wondering if anyone can suggest a decent wordcount and billing software to replace Practicount, which has ceased to work.
I don't need anything particularly fancy; quite the opposite, in fact. I've tried AnyCount but am not convinced.
Thanks for any suggestions.

María,
I've looked into it and there's something I've been unable to find.
In PractiCount, you have a list of clients whose details you fill in and the program uses these as required.
When invoicing a client you simply select that client from the list and their details will automatically appear on the invoice along with the wordcount, subtotals, total, etc.
I can't seem to find any equivalent in FineCount - I get the impression you need to add these every time you make out an invoice.
Is this so or am I just being my usual software-challenged self?
Sorry! I use FineCount only to analyse different file formats and not for invoicing. As I work mainly with repeat clients, I have an Excel template for each of them, which I convert to Pdf and send to them. For those regular customers with several projects per month (usually small ones) I always fill the template after completing each job in order not to forget any detail. It works fine for me...

Thanks, that explains it.
I suppose that's one way to handle it. The pity is that PractiCount did all of this is one step.
I'll keep looking. | | |

Okay, I am obviously not the only one for whom Practicount has stopped working.
I have now tried FineCount. Biggest issue: It is displayed on my screen in teeny-tiny little letters, I would say the size of Arial Pt. 4 - hardly deciphrable. Can't find any way to adjust that setting. How do I get it to display in a legible format? Any ideas?

I think the problem might be that such software is a dying breed. I myself, for example, haven't needed something like this for years because I use a CAT tool in combination with LSP.expert.
I either get my word count directly in Microsoft Word, or inside of memoQ. All other calculations and invoicing are done in LSP.expert.
