My desktop has a 17 inches screen. I've bought a new one recently with a higher resolution but I've never seen the need for additional screen space.

27-inch main monitor, 24-inch second monitor. To each their own, definitely, but personally, I could not work with only one monitor and any diagonal below 24 inches. Used to work with one 22-inch screen during my project manager days, so I am definitely glad those are over and I can freely decide over the screen real estate I need for efficient work.

27", 2560x1440. My previous monitor was 22", 1920x1080. I see the majority of answers are in the 15" range... but I suppose those are mostly laptops.

Recently 24/24. I'm still trying to figure out the proper configurations, as sometimes MS Word occupies all the real estate of both monitors wnen I try to close a file.
24 inch diagonal | May 19, 2022 |
About 21 by 12 inches. It means I can have two documents open side by side if I want to, or I can use readable text sizes on all sections of the divided Trados screen. If I need any more than that, I either print out a page or two, so I can write pencil notes, or I use my laptop screen beside the desktop. That works fine for me.

And that's more than enough because sometimes translating already feels like watching tennis at Wimbledon.

The bigger the screen, the more comfortable your eyes and the better your eyesight. Before that, I was using 22 slim FHD. And, the difference is earth and sky. And, before that, 15 CRT. For me, 15/16 is a perfect size for a screen when you working at least 8 hours a day, I would not like to have a 24 inch screen in front of my eyes.

Another embarrassing mistake in the poll answers, as anybody who uses a screen larger than 24 inches cannot find an option that matches. Obviously, the "< 24 in" should have been ">". Mine is currently 32 in, by the way.

That's the actual screen size. The monitor is larger, of course. I have the same problem with Microsoft spreading out so that it's hard to look at two documents at once. I'm about to buy a 15" laptop for backup.

When I need to view two Word files in a modern version of Word side by side, I disable "Modern comments" by running a BAT file with this in it: reg delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\ExperimentConfigs\Ecs\word reg delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\ExperimentConfigs\FirstSession\word

Given the conditions of my nearsighted eyes, a monitor lower than 32 inches is less comfortable.
