None - if you mean printed dictionaries.

Lots of different specialist or generalist online ones.

It depends on what is meant by regular: sometimes weeks go by without me touching any of them. My Phrasal Verbs Dictionaries (PT-PT) are probably the ones I use most. As EU-related texts are the bulk of my work, my regular ports of call are Eur-Lex, IATE and the Interinstitutional Style Guide.

If you mean online dictionaries, even 3/4, that I guess it's not a high number.
Anyway, I have a favourite one, the one I consider the best for my translations but you never know, I mean, better consulting to one more than referring to only one.

Quite a lot Jun 25, 2018

I have an online pack with at least five, and another handful in another pack as a backup.

Then I have a whole bookcase full of dictionaries etc. with one shelf of works I consult frequently, if not what you call regularly. It depends on the subject area.

Style guides, background reference, lists of abbreviations and acronyms, handbooks for context - I don't know if they count, but I spend a lot of time looking up what I need to know.

Much of it is online, but the printed sources are sometimes just as quick, because I know precisely where to look, and they are RELIABLE!

Dictionary Usage? Jun 26, 2018

I used to use lots many years ago. These days, however, the majority of my work is repetitious. Different projects, the same terminology. As such, I tend to spend more time crafting my prose than searching out new terms. That being said, I still love thumbing through dictionaries in my spare time.

My office is lined with shelves of reference books. The ones I have kept are typically better than what I can find online, though I use online dictionaries as well.
