This has been polled so many times....

Early morning if I sleep early enough and the children do not keep waking me up in the night....

For the same reasons that I gave last time.

Mid-afternoon/evening Jan 10, 2014

I reproduce the answer given last time (18 Feb 2013):

As I am a late owl, the most productive time for me in general is mid-afternoon/evening, but it really depends on a lot of factors: job deadline, complexity of the document, familiarity with the subject matter…

Though my neurones buzz differently at those two times: more brisk and multi-tasking in the morning, more philosophical in the evening.

This poll has been repeated so often that I'm tempted to post a facetious response.

I agree that it might not be a bad idea for potential pollsters to look at past polls before they post one. It would avoid needless repetition. At any rate, thank you Jitka for trying to contribute constructively to the site.

As for my answer, I'm most productive after I just wake up (whether from sleeping at night or a nap.)

Different strokes for different folks...or horses to courses. Some people are morning people, others are midnight owls. But there is no set rule or predictability in how productive a professional will be during a given day.

I'd like a different question with the poll, such as:

When you feel productive, do you sip tea, cognac, coffee, café au lait, a beer or hard liquor?

When you feel productive, do you spend time on the phone to tell others?

When you feel productive, do you pat yourself in the back for a job well done?

I mean, make it lively and relevant!

As stated in all of the same polls, it's usually at night, or when I need to finish a translation.

Can new members participate in previous polls? If not, why do people complain about polls being repeated? Surely you would just refrain from participating, if this is one you've already done.

I think many submit a poll about a topic or question that has already been explored, discussed and responded ad nauseam in previous polls. Since Proz allows searching for polls, it would be only logical to query the poll database to make sure a topic is not repeated.

Productivity during different times of the day seems to be a popular topic among some translators.

Especially in Proz polls. Proz poll guidelines state:

"Ensure that a similar question has not been asked recently"

With comments about poll programming that have been raised in the past, I'd think that the powers that be could search through what is undoubtedly the vast backlog of submitted poll questions that have not seen the light of day so far.

I and my fellow colleagues here, I am sure, would welcome more input from new members for lively and in-depth discussion. So, don't be shy!

In answer to this poll...

After a cuppa tea -- which should have been an option.

Us Brits wouldn't be able to make it through the day without at least a couple of cuppas of chah, like Mario and his cup of Joe!

Happy New Year, Mario! Interesting to see you're up at this unearthly hour.

Toooo many small edits -- I need another cuppa!
