Because along with it comes the super speed.
Helen Hagon Local time: 03:32 Miembro 2011 ruso al inglés + ... Universal understanding | Sep 28, 2013 |
To be able understand every nuance, dialect and idiom in every language. When a Russian author slips in the odd bit of Ukrainian slang, or an agency sends me something in Bulgarian because it looks like Russian, it would come in quite handy.
Now that would be ideal. I would be able to translate more words per day and dedicate more time to proofreading, what a joy.

Photographic memory! | Sep 28, 2013 |
Then I would only have to look at those pesky scanned items ONCE! That would make me super-speedy!! I nearly put "Flight" - that would be a dream come true.......
John Cutler España Local time: 04:32 español al inglés + ... Telepathy+time travel | Sep 28, 2013 |
Some type of telepathy (with possibility of going back in time), so I could tell what on earth some writers of source language documents were thinking when they wrote it.

Why ask? "I already have all these." Now, asking me who my favorite Disney character is would be a hard question. We don't have Disney here on Krypton. Sent intergalactically from my i-Phone
Carmen Grabs Alemania Local time: 04:32 Miembro 2012 inglés al alemán + ... did not understand all options, but Telepathy | Sep 28, 2013 |
so I could understand every nuance of every word and know exactly what the author intended to say with words like "information", "manage", "deliver" and all these universally usable words the English language seems to consist of and that have 10000000 meanings and equivalent words in German. *sigh*

Super speed? No thank you! For me translation means taking the time to find the right words and in my book speed and quality are archenemies. On the other hand, telepathy would be a really cool ability as I already have a photographic memory and I’m kind of invisible in my own little corner…
Carmen Grabs Alemania Local time: 04:32 Miembro 2012 inglés al alemán + ... but why would someone want to be invisible? | Sep 28, 2013 |
You are working from the comfort of your home ... Can someone please explain?
Love the poll! | Sep 28, 2013 |
Finally a poll that doesn't take things so dead serious. I voted photographic memory because, as somebody else has said, along with it comes super speed.

Invisibility | Sep 28, 2013 |
Carmen Grabs wrote: You are working from the comfort of your home ... Can someone please explain? Precisely because I work from the comfort of my home Which means I'm disturbed in a way (in hundreds of ways, actually) I wouldn't be had I worked from elsewhere
Telepathy - so that I could instinctively understand the context of those Excel word lists and computer strings - and at the same time know just how much the agency would be prepared to pay! Steve K.
Same amount of work, less working hours, more free time. What a dream.
