Although born in Lisbon, Portugal, I grew up and was educated in London, UK. I moved to Portugal in 1988, and have been working as a Portuguese to English translator since 1990, based in Porto. In 2009 I gained the Diploma in Translation awarded by the Institute of Linguists Educational Trust, (UK). This diploma is a level 7 qualification on the European Qualifications Framework, which gives it equivalency to an MA degree. This means that I am able to apply for European Union translation work (depending on the field in question), under profile three.

I translate from all variants of Portuguese, with the bulk of my work being from Brazilian Portuguese into English. Fields in which I have experience include: medical imaging, contracts of all types, shipping and maritime, petrochemical contracts and manuals, railway and metro systems, certificates and documentation relating to education, child custody, immigration and job applications, medical reports, brochures, technical manuals, tourism, hotel and catering, restaurant menus, scientific abstracts, websites, personal and business correspondence, magazine articles, transport and shipping, fashion and retail, etc.
