Aforo

español al inglés Medicina Medicina: Farmacia
I need help translating the word 'aforo' in the following paragraph:

DURANTE EL PROCESO DE FABRICACION DE DOPAMINA SOL INY LOTE X, CUANDO SE SOLICITÓ EL AFORO DEL PRODUCTO SE DETECTÓ UNA CAPA CON TEXTURA GRASOSA OBSCURA ADHERIDA AL TANQUE AL NIVEL DE LA SOLUCION Y MANCHAS ADHERIDAS AL TANQUE LIGERAMENTE POR DEBAJO DEL NIVEL DE LA SOLUCIÓN.

From what I've been able to find out, 'aforo' can mean 'fill to capacity', 'dilute', 'water down', so I'm not sure how to translate it in this case as it seems to me that the paragraph refers more to some sort of inspection.

Thank you in advance for your comments.

sample testing

We'd need a bit more context, but 'aforo' is sometimes used in relation to the testing of samples of a product.
The ST seems to be saying that someone asked for a sample of the Dopamina to be tested, and when they went to collect the sample they found the tank was contaminated.

volume [mark / level]

As Andres' references above suggest, "aforo" means the graduation mark in a piece of laboratory glassware, (matraz aforado > measuring flask or volumetric flask).
I believe the meaning here is that the person writing presumably asked someone to look at the measurement on the flask and that person reported that there was contamination just below the meniscus level of the solution.
I'm not quite sure how this should be worded, but perhaps "asked for the volume mark" or just "volume"?

A volumetric flask (measuring flask or graduated flask) is a piece of laboratory glassware, a type of laboratory flask, calibrated to contain a precise volume at a particular temperature. Volumetric flasks are used for precise dilutions and preparation of standard solutions. These flasks are usually pear-shaped, with a flat bottom, and made of glass or plastic. The flask's mouth is either furnished with a plastic snap/screw cap or fitted with a joint to accommodate a PTFE or glass stopper. The neck of the volumetric flasks is elongated and narrow with an etched ring graduation marking. The marking indicates the volume of liquid contained when filled up to that point.

product level estimate

Given the use and context provided, “aforo” can also refer to an in-process method of gauging, calculating, or estimating product levels.

The visual nature of the inspection that took place is readily apparent by the fact that contaminants were found just below and above the tank level surface.

The fact that the product here is within a tank and not within a graduated glass or flask, lends further credibility to the idea that aforo here refers more to a process or method of accountability than it does to a mark.

Just my thoughts.

Cheers

The following links provide further support of "aforo" as a process, which in many if not most cases, commonly refers to the process of determining the total capacity or volume of a tank, by any number of highly specialized methods or techniques for the storage, process, inventory, or transfer of product.

I would simply add that either "product level estimate or measurement", or "product volume or capacity" would both be suitable ways of translating this term.

Hope it helps!

Cheers
