This is from an academic article on Castillian baroque painting. The authors would like this into US English. The article focuses heavily on images of cucifixion. In this section it says:

I know what this refers to, it is the little platform on the crucifix where the feet stand. I'm not sure what to call it in English. I have seen it translated as crucifix base, but I'm not sure about this. Any input? Thank you very much in advance.
