jacana54 (X) Uruguay inglés al español + ... Spanish: spam | Jan 2, 2013 |
Hi, Just to add that I found the same message but requesting translation into Spanish. It had gone directly into the Spam folder because he's been sending messsages for some time as Teresa points out. However it's always useful when a colleague starts a forum discussion about these spammers because it helps to make others remember the issue. So thank you Luis!
Dear colleagues, Thank you so much for sharing this message! I just responded to this person's e-mail and text message! I did think it sounded sketchy but wasn't sure. I received a message starting with "Greetings..." on 12/31 and he has been e-mailing me since promising an advanced payment yet pushing me to start translation. Should I reply to his e-mail and say that I won't be available for his project, or just block his e-mail? Co... See more Dear colleagues, Thank you so much for sharing this message! Hi Svetlana, Block the address, ignore them, there is no client and no translation need. They want you to receive and deposit a check in excess of the agreed amount and to wire them the difference in good money. Regards, Enrique

Here he is again with the same phone number, the same "business deal" (except now he needs a Polish translator of documents for a conference in Egypt...) but - beware! - new name and email address: Gate Scott email: [email protected] The same scam. Be careful, notify your collegues. Greetings, Monika
Jeff Whittaker Estados Unidos Local time: 12:49 español al inglés + ... Got four of the same message today... | Jan 18, 2013 |
one for French, one for German, one for Italian and one for Portuguese. The scammer is obviously using some type of e-mail list and not paying attention to individual addresses.

I always say sure no problem, let me have your name and address and a copy of your passport and once FBI Internet Crime Division confirms you are legitimate - we can do business - usually that is the last I hear from them
