"Native in: Multiplelanguages" recorded in a profile (Staff: fixed) Autor de la hebra: Sheila Wilson

I thought the "Native language" field was supposed to be for displaying information about a real language. Two real languages are allowed on the profile - that's the maximum. But now I see a profile with "Multiplelanguages" as the one and only native language. Request to staff: would you please let me know what this is all about? Is it new or have I simply never come across it before? What are the implications for site activity e.g. being eligible for "native speakers only" job post... Hello all, Thanks Sheila for bringing this to my attention. It looks like the native language reported in the profile that you visited is not displaying correctly. Staff is looking into it now. Kind regards, Lucia | | | A native in multiple languages never... | Mar 4, 2013 |
Sheila Wilson wrote: Question to other site members: do you see any sense in this? What would it mean to a client? But I remember longtime ago (2006 if I am not wrong) I saw a native speaker of "Latin" (a dead language). I remember I reported it to the former mods.

Well, if you try to add a new language to your profile page, you'll notice that one of the languages you can add is "Multiplelanguages". Someone found this and thought that that was what it was intended for. The problem (for the poor profile owner) is that this will not help him, because he'll be excluded from practically every language related site notification. | | | Sheila Wilson España Local time: 06:45 Miembro 2007 inglés + ... The problem here is that, although an agency has a company-type profile, it also has a "primary profile" which looks just the same as ours but often lists 2 native languages and vast numbers of language pairs and credentials of all sorts - clearly this doesn't relate to one person. For me, the standard ProZ.com profile must be for one person, and one person only. Linked to it could be a different, joint profile as appropriate: for a company, a team of collaborators, a married couple... Otherwise, what sense is there in the profile? | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » "Native in: Multiplelanguages" recorded in a profile (Staff: fixed) CafeTran Espresso | You've never met a CAT tool this clever!
