Samuel, I fear that you might have fallen in love. Please do take care, lad! Luckily, studies show that you will see the pink tint only for the first 7 years. | | | pink? not really | Nov 23, 2011 |

Probably it has to do with the color settings of your monitor. If it is set to "warm", the red component of white and gray colors is more prominent than other components. Probably for the ProZ background it just crosses the perception threshold. Of course, the color lies in the eye of the beholder, two people looking at the same monitor might have different opinions on its "pinkishness". Of course, the color lies in the eye of the beholder, two people looking at the same monitor might have different opinions on its "pinkishness". You can open the screenshot in any image editor and use a color picker tool. I did and for the background it is red: 248, green: 247 and blue: 242. Which means it is very light gray, very close to white. No pinks here. By the way, the edit box is 255, 255, 255, which explains the difference in perception. ▲ Collapse | | | I'm pink too | Nov 23, 2011 |

I use Firefox - no idea if that's relevant. The rest of the site is its normal drab yellow, and my profile is its normal grey. | | | opolt Alemania Local time: 02:25 inglés al alemán + ... Troubleshooting | Nov 23, 2011 |
Russell Jones wrote: You're not the only one Samuel - as from yesterday - both in IE9 and Firefox. Maybe you should investigate what you all have in common -- no, not on the personal level but hardware and software wise. I'm not suggesting a support group here -- only a troubleshooting method. The first thing to establish would be your OS -- my guess would be that Windows 7 is the culprit :-], because it has colour (mis)management. @Jabberwock: If it were a monitor thing (purely on the hardware side), Samuel couldn't have reproduced it in the screenshot above such that it becomes visible for others in the forum (which it does) -- unless he used a digital camera or something (unlikely).

That's how it looks to me, a bit greyish too, as Kristina R. says, especially if viewed from the left, the right or, even more so, from below, but not from above, where it doesn't look pinkish at all. | | | Non pink-seers, we need an emergency guide! | Nov 23, 2011 |
Are we really prepared for a hypothetical situation where our colleagues, then our acquaintances, then our friends, then our relatives see pink? Do you know of any book we could use in preparation for the worst-case scenario? I just wish Max Brooks could write a "The Odd-Dialog-Box Survival Guide: Complete Protection from Pink-Seers"!! | |

Back in Germany at my former employer. My new assistant approached me first thing in the morning: "Nicole, can you tell me what is wrong with all the monitors? They are all pink! Come, see for yourself!" Oh well, all monitors were just fine and it turned out that the young man had been partying all night, drinking like a fish, was hungover and was simply hallucinating. I send him home to sleep it off, but I called him a cab - pink monitor screens and driving don't match. ![](https://cfcdn.proz.com/images/bb/smiles/icon_smile.gif) | | | opolt Alemania Local time: 02:25 inglés al alemán + ... | Samuel Murray Países Bajos Local time: 02:25 Miembro 2006 inglés al afrikaans + ... I'm using an external monitor and it is pink on that monitor. However, when I move the browser over to the laptop's own monitor, the pink is gone. So I tried to think what did I change between today and some days ago. What programs did I install. What programs did I understall. What settings did I fiddle with. Etc. And now, the pink is gone, because I set the monitor back from 16 bit to 32 bit colour.
