When I was in my 20s, I often wondered about shapes: statuesque, round, thin, tall, the shape of things to come, etc.
In the early aughs (2000-2007) I embarked on serious gym work: cut down on carbs, even hired a personal trainer for short spells. At one time (2004-2005) I lived a block from the YMCA, so I would walk there for workouts 2-3 times a day.

No matter how much I worked out, however, I couldn't change my shape: average height, skinny, slightly paunchy, still with all my hair on my head
That many jobs today are sedentary is true. The migration of people from the rural towns to the cities is ongoing because salaries are better, amenities are more numerous, cultural hubs are in the cities. ▲ Collapse

My sedentary lifestyle when I was an in-house emplyee, with lunch hours, happy hours and weekly beers made my belly grow considerably.
My sedentary lifestyle as a freelance translator, with no lunch and no beer, made me loose my fat, without any exercise.
