Another method (in newer builds): CSV files Mar 25, 2010

With OmegaT 2.1.3 beta or recently released 2.1.4, you can do it even simpler, because support of CSV files has been implemented.

Create your glossary in OpenOffice.org Calc, or Microsoft Office Excel, or any other spreadsheet editing program. Chose Save As, select CSV for file type (i.e., comma-separated variable). In the export filter settings, select UTF-8 for the encoding, comma for field delimiter and quote for text delimiter.

Enjoy!

lesson for me: improve the documentation Apr 26, 2010

As the person, responsible for the documentation, I would like to thank all in this thread for showing me a rough spot. While my description of the process is factually correct, it makes a simple job much more complicated than necessary.

There's a new version of documentation in the works and I will definitely make changes, based on your experience.

And - while I am at it - please feel free to contact me with any suggestions, as regards the documentation.

not working Jan 13, 2011

Hello,

I'm using ubuntu and omega 1.8.1_2.
I've tried all your tips including the csv version but it won't load the glossary file.

Would someone be so kind to send me a working testglossary?

thanks in advance.

The .csv tip only applies to version 2.1.3 and later.

OmegaT's latest version (from OmegaT download page) has a function to create interactively a glossary entry.

You can use it to create a sample glossary.

OmegaT 1.8 being completely obsolete, it is recommended to use the latest version (2.2) anyway.

This is the best that has happened to OmegaT since I started using it about a year ago.
And so easy to use!
Thanks!
