I'm looking for advice about French PAYG cards. My boyfriend will be in France for three weeks (from this coming Monday) and is planning on buying a PAYG card to use. He'll only be making phone calls in emergencies, otherwise he'll mainly be sending text messages to Sweden... does anyone know which card would be the best option? He's obviously going to have to buy a starter pack and get a French mobile number, but we'd like to keep this cost to a minimum.
Many thanks!!!

Hi Clare,
The Bic phone might be the best option for your boyfriend. Have a look at the website http://www.bic-phone.fr/ (in French).
If he already has an unlocked phone, he can buy a pay-as-you-go sim card from any French mobile network provider (Orange, SFR, etc.) They usually offer international call services but I would advise him to check with the provider before buying.

Hi Véronique,
Thanks - he already has an unlocked phone, so we're just interested in which network provider would be best. In Sweden prices vary quite a lot for calls/sms depending on what provider you're with and the type of card you buy from them.
He's going to be running between Roscoff and Marseille, so isn't really going to have a chance to do any "shopping around" or making too many phone calls (if any), just a daily text message home. It would be a shame if he ... See more Hi Véronique,

It would be a shame if he ended up with a card that provides free calls but expensive sms's, rather than vice-versa...
Thanks!
