If the agencies/clients allow me sufficient time to do a translation, I keep postponing the work out of laziness. As a result, sometimes, I have to work very hard as some other agencies want me to deliver a job urgently. So, I have to finish this as well as the other job, which was postponed by me earlier. I know this is a bad habit, but I have not been able to get rid of it for the last 19 years or so.

I used to be a procrastinator, until I realized that attacking a problem at the outset and 'coasting home' makes life so much easier and less stressful!

But I would not call it procrastination. A good time-planning rather![](https://cfcdn.proz.com/images/bb/smiles/icon_smile.gif)
In my view, "do it now" is the secret to success in business. Incidentally, here's a story. A Spaniard asked an Arab how to say "mañana" in Arabic. The Arab thought for a while and replied "I don't think Arabic contains a word that conveys that sense of urgency". Just a joke - no offence intended. Kind regards, Jenny.

By nature I definitely am one, but wisdom and self-awareness gained through many-years' painful experience already prevails Which probably means I am getting old![](https://cfcdn.proz.com/images/bb/smiles/icon_frown.gif)

Until the job is done it is a burden... unpaid for. Why would I need a double-shift, so to speak? It sits in the back of your mind torturing you and you are only half-relaxed at best. I can't remember any really luxurious deadlines but quite often they are just right, nice breaks including, and those breaks feel much nicer when you know that a good chunk is already done and over with. I'll have time for another job should I feel like it and it'll still be only one on my desk. You can say that I am not a procrastinator because I am lazy and I hate discomfort:-) ▲ Collapse

I have an (agency) customer who bullies her customers and gives me very generous deadlines.![](https://cfcdn.proz.com/images/bb/smiles/icon_wink.gif) The result? Procrastination and "JIT" delivery. Hasn't gone wrong yet (Inshallah). The possible solution would be planning your life in Excel, but I've been there and done that as an inhouse person: it's a sad business and one that makes me revel in being in charge of my life. We can "leverage" some wonderful tools for such tasks. I find a pencil and paper quite useful. Honest! Chris
